And yes, I am attempting to make chibi versions of the main characters.
Part of doing a manga style webcomic REQUIRES certain parts chibi.

Yeah, that's part of the main Rules/Law of Manga isn't it? _Every_ character has to have a chibi version at least once.

The tough part is making them chibi-rific but still retain their distinctive appearance
